Then I got a puppy... who peed on it not once, but twice! So I decided once it was dry cleaned for the second time that I just wasn't taking any more chances. Then warm weather came and I didn't need it. It's getting cooler now though, so I ordered a different down-alt comforter... which was WAY TOO HOT with aforementioned pup-pup in bed with me. So I ordered this one, and it is JUST RIGHT!It's so soft, and lightweight, and fairly thin, but still warm -and breathable! I intend to put it in a cover (aforementioned puppo is a shedding machine), but currently it's just under the summer quilt, and we are super snug. I am actually writing this review from my bed!One thing that's great even though it's no big deal is that upon removal from the package, the comforter did not have some weird chemical smell you get so often. The packaging was lightweight too, and included a cute little note from the company.I'm very very pleased. The outer fabric is soft, smooth, attractive feeling, with nice edging all around and long channels sewn in to keep the batting in place. I got the queen size and it's quite generous, but not so big it won't fit in my duvet covers.Haven't washed it yet, so if there's a terrible defect upon doing so, I'll revise my rating, but at this point I'm giving it 5 enthusiastic stars. I was looking for new summer bedding, something lighter and soft. This insert is definitely a match! It arrived tightly rolled, wrapped in clear plastic. There was no weird smell and had no other imperfections upon inspection. It's the PERFECT size for our standard queen size guest bed, with just enough to hang over each side. If you have one of those very thick, extra layered mattresses I do not believe this 86x86 would do the job (it would not cover your mattress sides completely). It is very thin, which is what I hoped for, and looks great in the new duvet we also purchased. It's also enough weight and warmth to not warrant extra layer of blanket on top.
