Would it cause the neck to bow?** A: Your guitar will be damaged on a classical with steel strings. Classical guitars necks are not built for steel they are built for nylon strings. Your neck will bow and warp **Q: Are the first 3 strings nylon?** A: No, they are plain steel as in other acoustic sets. Nylon would only be found on classical sets. **Q: What would be the best string size to use on a used acoustic guitar to be played by a 9 year old boy?** A: The lighter the guage...the easier to bend. The easier to bend...the harder to control. Since its an acoustic guitar, i would start with 10's ...try .10 to .46. Thats a pretty standard guage. He should be able to tell if he would like a smaller guage in which case go to 9's. Better yet....take him to a guitar shop and let him try some different guage strings. If hes just strumming, he may like the 10's. When hes ready for more sophisticated play, and until his hands get larger and stronger, he may need the 9's. Happy playing! **Q: Can I put nylon strings on a guitar that use to have metal?** A: You can. You will need to do a neck adjustment to makeup for the lower tension. These strings are metal that the question was asked under. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Warm, Balanced Tone and Reliable Quality *by K***P on December 22, 2025* Ernie Ball Earthwood acoustic strings are a solid choice if you want a warm, balanced tone without sacrificing clarity. Great sound quality and easy to install. They keep a tune perfect. Only had to stretch them out twice before they locked in on the tuners. I would buy time and time again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ These Are My Go To Now *by J***H on May 19, 2026* I have only been playing acoustic guitar for a little over a year, but I always bought the D'Addario Phosphor Bronze strings. I was never satisfied with how they sounded because the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd strings just always rang out too loudly and sounded way too metallic and just not much bass at all. I wanted more of a bassy sound and way less treble. I searched around the web and all arrows pointed to these Ernie Ball Earthwood Medium Light Phosphor Bronze 12-54 Gauge. I gave it a go and am so impressed! It really blew my mind at how much of a difference it made. Plus these bad boys are cheaper than the D'Addario's. If you are looking for a good set of strings with more bass and less treble sounding and at a great price, these are the winner. ## Frequently Bought Together - Ernie Ball Earthwood Medium Light Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings 4 pack - 12-54 Gauge (P02446) - Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings Amazon Exclusive 4-Pack - 10-46 Gauge - Ernie Ball Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings 4 pack - 11-52 Gauge (P02404) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/451790935-earthwood-medium-light-phosphor-bronze-acoustic-guitar-strings-4-pack](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/451790935-earthwood-medium-light-phosphor-bronze-acoustic-guitar-strings-4-pack) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-05*
