Rolls are, by far, the greatest single problem faced by drummers; indeed many professionals as well as students never overcome the problem completely. The primary aim is to develop facility for reading and playing rolls, and it was felt that the inclusion of dynamics in this study would to some degree detract from that goal. The tempos and methods are flexible to meet the needs of each student, and can be dictated by the teacher.
