Unfortunately it over heats after about 10 minutes of continuous power. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Temperature sensitive and possibly higher than 5 mW *by T***N on March 18, 2023* I expected this 532 nm laser to be temperature-sensitive, as most of these are, so incorporated a 2.5W regulated heater in my design. I set it to hold between 19-20 C, where output is steady. Below about 10 C the frequency doubler crystal in these 532 nm lasers typically drops output. My readings with a photovoltaic sensor suggests the laser is instead putting out infrared at 1064 nm (the pv sensor is close to equally sensitive to both wavelengths and does not drop much even though the green beam clearly fades dramatically when cold. I switched to measuring the output by using a 40 mm square Peltier TEC-12706 cooler as a thermopile. I have calibrated a number of these, and find them quite sensitive and linear when used as heat flow sensors, with this batch giving 13.3 +/- 0.7 watts per volt. Painting one face with flat black stove paint (a standard for emissivity) and mounting the unpainted surface on a heat sink produces a fair pyranometer. I tested a Z-bolt laser pointer with a claimed output of 1-4 mW and produced a measured power of about 9 mW, although this probably includes an IR component. The laser module sold here produced a reading of 13.3 +/- 0.7 mW, again, likely including an IR component. Assuming Z-bolt's advertised power is correct, the module above is probably reasonably close to 5 mW. My test condition included supplying the module above with regulated 3.00 VDC, and it is significantly brighter at higher voltage. I rigged this test, which I will admit is homebrew and not NIST-traceable, to satisfy myself that this is NOT a 50 mW laser as some have suggested in the Q&A. Both lasers may be a bit higher than stated, but an infrared component may be responsible for the difference. I've tested the laser module as a match ignition device and have never lit a match with it.
