The mud, grass, and poo mess were horrible and we tried several methods to get it to stop. At one point, we were knocking the nest down daily that was repeatedly rebuilt to completion in the early hours of the morning and again once we got back home from work. My husband even CAUGHT the bird in action one morning, and they literally got into a screaming match at each other with the bird on the roof tweeting as loud as it could with grass in its mouth and my husband yelling back at it. We even bought a fake owl to be nearby, but that only worked for a day. Finally, I caved and bought these, hung up one of them under the porchlight, and THE BIRD NEVER CAME BACK! Nor did any other bird attempt to build a nest there.I can't say that this will work for you, but we were going nuts until we hung one of these up and have a ton more just in case we get any others.
