Review: Didn't even get to try it on a single project. Followed the instructions to the letter, as I read the negative reviews here, and watched some videos as well. Oil was added to the proper levels and all precautions taken. Immediately, smoke billows out, and it's stopped working. Submitted return request and waiting their response. Obviously not impressed and would not recommend.
Review: I've had this pump for a little while now and have mostly used it to stabilize a great diversity of wood inside of a vacuum chamber. My comments below are based on my personal experience with my sample of one, and a solid understanding of the stabilization process, but I hope that it will help others in their own endeavors... To start, I have owned it over 2 summers now and have never had much trouble with it. It is simple and trust worthy. Having said this, I should also remind you that it a single stage pump which by definition means that it runs at 100% operational capacity when the motor is running. Energy Efficiency - I would rate it middle of the road. Single stage motors are usually not as efficient as two stage motors. Noise - This pump is not quiet. If you want quieter pumps, then you will have to pay considerably more for a two-stage vacuum pump. Reliability - This pumps generally runs 24x7 for several days. I have had great luck with it so far. Suction - This a basic pump at 3.5 CFM. All this means it that it will take a bit longer for your vacuum chamber to be void of its atmospheric gases. It does however create more than enough vacuum for my 3 gallon chamber without doubt. Thermal - It runs a bit hotter than I expected or would like, however, as long as it has just the right amount of oil, it keeps on going. Overall, this is a medium duty pump, but a good value for the price paid. It can last a long time and serve you well if you treat it right. For best results: 1) Make sure to follow the manufacturer's operational guides (Particularly regarding oil levels). 2) NEVER restart vacuum pumps if they are connected to a chamber already under full vacuum. The exception being if your pump has the ability to maintain pressure on the chamber, but the motor can start under zero vacuum. I hope this helps!

**Q: After continuous use for an hour, my vacuum pump is very hot, what should I do?**
A: Pls turn off the motor before irreversible damage is happening. Wait until the motor has cooled down sufficiently and then start again. Do not let the pump run for long times without vacuum building up.

**Q: There's a lot of oil mist coming out of the oil cap lately, what should I do?**
A: a. Don't run overload. b. Don't pump atmosphere. c. Use proper vacuum oil. Add oil to middle of tank scale. d. Exchange oil that is cloudy or discolored or smells like solvents once a month.

**Q: What should I do if there is noise during use?**
A: Pls check whether the impeller of the pump is firmly installed. If the impeller is loose, it may cause noise when rotate and hit the edge of the impeller cover during the use of the pump. Pls re-install it firmly.

I've had this pump for a little while now and have mostly used it to stabilize a great diversity of wood inside of a vacuum chamber.
