It completely neutralizes the red and the color lasts maybe 6-8 weeks before I feel like I need to apply it again (I wash my hair every other day to every 2 days). I also like the versatility of selecting for a wet or dry application to get a more or less intense color. I've always done a dry application and leave it on for 25min. She said that you shouldn't use a hair coloring product that is over 3 years old, and advised me not to use it. She said the results could be undesired. This in a non-returnable product due to "hazmat safety reasons", and when I tried to do a return/refund online, it wouldn't do it, and I had to call desertcart. I requested that I be refunded for this product for the reasons I gave above. If so, how how much darker?** A: I personally wouldn't use this on any hair color that's lighter than a medium to dark brown. It does darken hair quite a bit if you apply it to dry hair. My hair is in between medium and dark brown and turns it quite dark (which is my preference). The effect is supposed to be a bit less if applied to wet hair, but I've not tried that method, so I can't speak to that. I would think it would still darken the hair a decent amount. Either way, the ash color does a good job neutralizing brassy tones. Though, if your hair is really orange, it may not work as well and, as I said, it will probably darken your hair regardless. To what degree will depend on the color you have now and what condition your hair is in. It's also only temporary and the results gradually wash out after a few weeks, but if used on lighter hair, the intensity of the color might fade quicker with washing.
