They are well made ✅ I like the screw terminals for either line-load or travelers on these. You can put a serious “tight” on the screws and they grip well. No breaking / no stripping. I am also comforted by the fact that these carry the ETL cert and some info about UL “conforming” and a bunch of other “ratings” or “standards” as well. The overall feel is nice. It’s hard to describe but the plastic just feels like “quality” under your finger. The subtle “click” on the main on/off button contractor is also very “quality feeling” unlike some of the others that I tried that just feel “cheap”. I have installed about a dozen of these now and the Wi-Fi set-up worked easily on all but one. I could not get it to connect to my router. The other physical part I noticed is that v1 had terminal screws for the line/load and the travelers, whereas v2 has wires and needs wire nuts to connect. This adds 3 additional wire nuts in the box, and if your space in the box is limited, this could make a difference. I personally have v1 and am happy with it. Identifying the traveler wires is easy enough as long as they are red and black as they are supposed to be, and I like not having to force the extra wire nuts in behind the switch inside the work box. I have heard that v1 had some hardware and firmware issues, and I did get a defective set the first time around, but the replacement that was sent has worked perfectly. (The first set would not stay connected to wifi and the switch itself got rather warm). Those are the differences I know of. **Q: Is there a True random feature to give a 'lived in look'?** A: Away Mode lets the KS230 KIT turn your devices off and on randomly to make it look like you’re home, even when you’re away. **Q: Do these work for 12V DC lights? Only issue i had was with a short cut ground wire on the satellite side ...otherwise, respliced it and made it work. No issues, love the product for my hallway recessed night lights. Installation was almost a breeze besides the wifi hiccups!
