They fit together nicely. I was able to use a round ball routing bit to carve out where my elements needed to be and they didn't crack or break. They are very fragile though, after bolting them together, they are starting to crack, but that is the user, not the products fault. They are easy to carve shape and cut with either a hand saw, file or table saw. Lots of dust is to be expected. You could also easily carve with literally a screw to make the grooves or use a trimming router. I love the fact that they are so easy to manipulate because of the shape that is uniform the whole way around. This makes them easier to stack and ensures they will have a tight fit, which is important for making the forge I want to use them for. I was really happy with the shipping. There were no chips or cracks because of the dual packaging. Then an additional layer of Styrofoam. This shows that they cared about the quality of the product to ensure that the bricks are in the best condition possible.These are smooth and clean with no discoloration, and each brick is solid, so they will hold heat well to evenly distribute the heat. I am looking at building a forge, and these are perfect for that project. Not all bricks can handle the heat for making a forge. I wanted to make sure I got bricks that wouldn’t melt. I also wanted to make sure the bricks were not pulling the heat from the source, so I wanted to make sure I chose bricks that could use the fuel efficiently so it would save me time and fuel. The hard bricks pull heat away from the source, so they can require more fuel to get to These are rated for a higher temperature, so I didn’t have to worry about these not handling the heat.I want to make a mini forge, so these are going to work well for me. I am planning on cutting these down to size, so I am waiting for my face mask to protect me, so I can’t say how well they cut yet.
