Topics are introduced with just enough information to understand key principles, and without the need to understand complex mathematics. Some more theoretical sections are included but with good visual depictions, such as the workings of semi-conductors. Worked examples help to build understanding and the self-tests at the end of each chapter helpfully refer the reader back to where the principle was introduced when an incorrect answer has been derived.
