My hair is probably a Final Boss of tests at this point, so I thought I'd give it a go and report results for anyone who's thinking about trying setting lotion (you should 🤣). I use 1 part setting lotion to 2 parts water in a spray bottle, section my (aforementioned long, thick, coarsely textured) hair into two parts, spraying the dry hair until it's vaguely damp, and wrap each section around a bathrobe tie or the like, secure, and go to bed. I haven't fond it sticky at all —it makes it softer and more manageable if anything—and holds extremely well, even with such a mild dilution. It makes the curls last for a good 2 days, so i can just twist my hair into a loose bun and secure with clips at night until the next wash. It's saved me a lot of time overall, and I thoroughly recommend it. I've tried newer products that promise the earth, but the don't hold up to this old standard.
