Review: Very good - I purchased this mic to try and get some home recording done (Mostly acoustic folkey stuff). I am very happy with the mic. My budget was very limited, and so price was a key thing for me, and like many people I looked across many other websites for reviews of the mic, and not a lot of the reviews were as good as I would have liked, but due to budget I went for this mic anyway. Since purchasing the mic however I have realised that the bad reviews were simply people being equipment snobs! I can find no fault with the mic whatsoever. It does exactly what I want it to do, was easy to use, and I am very impressed with the quality of the recordings I am getting. I will say however as a simple note, (and as I believe other people have already said) you will need Phantom power for this mic. For anyone who doesn't know, phantom power is simply a particular voltage (48V I believe) DC power supply required for the mic to run. This can be acheived via a dedicated phantom power supply (£20 ish quid) or most mixing desks will supply phantom power (but check it does first!). I personally use a Behringer 802 mixer (~£45) for my phantom power. So to sum it up, I think the mic is excellent, will give you pretty decent recordings and is fantastic value for money!

For the money, I can't see me ever needing anything better. I've got a cheap Behringer XM8500 Ultravoice which is fine for anything live, this will probably never leave my house.

A: No.

**Q: When you sing into the mic a head voice, is there any distortion at all?**
A: I have had no distortion problems with this mic, but simply put, distortion will only occur if you overload it, that is solved by moving yourself back from the mic, this mic is very sensitive and doesn't require you to be right up close. the only other way you will build distortion in is if you have your mixer preamp up too high and get clipping, but that is nothing to do with the mic. I would advise you to get the best cable you can for it however as cheap cables create an awful lot of noise when you use phantom power.

**Q: I have irigpre audio mixture which has phantom power,will it work with behringer b1?**
A: The Irig Pre supplies 48 V phantom power from a 9 volt battery, so as long as there's a battery installed it ought to work.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simple and excellent

I've never been a huge fan of this brand but I fancied another mic for the odd bit of narration and I'm very impressed. It's a nice weighty mic with a well made grille. The sound out of the box in an untreated room is as you'd think... Passable. But once you add a little cut around 350hz to bring in some tone and drop the mids a little it sounds fantastic. I'm a big fan of the proximity effect and this provides a very good one with a nice radio-esque sound (with EQ). I guess the only minor gripe is the pad switch underneath doesn't have any felt to help stop dust but that's the only negative I can find. Self noise is also low, around -12 dba.
