I googled possible causes much of which would result in costly repairs. However one site suggested using clock oil ,as the mechanism might be clogged with old oil and dust.so I bought your clock oil and proceeded to gently rub the tip around the back of the mechanism to remove dirty deposits. We put the clock back together again and immediately it started ticking. The clock is working brilliantly , not losing time and chiming beautifully.
