I’ve added it to a tea cup; can it withstand high temps/ still be useable for drinking?** A: Hi there. Apparently, polymer clay is no more toxic (when cured) than any other plastic type material. I have used it to decorate cutlery handles where the food (unless you happen to be a messy eater ...) wouldn't normally come into contact with the clay covering. It is wipe clean but not dish-washer safe. I would recommend that you go to a website called The Blue Bottle Tree which is devoted to all things polymer clay. They have a very good article on the food-safety aspects of all clays, including Sculpey, Fimo, Premo! etc. You can also sign up to their weekly newsletter which is very informative as well. It really is a good all-round product as it can be used as a sealant, for bonding cured and non-cured pieces together or for extra bonding between two pieces of non-cured clay.
