It's the only dial caliper that I'm aware of that does fractions like most local woodworkers use. I use it 1,000 x daily. Please try using something dull and skinny such as a paperclip to try pushing the origin button. The origin button is very hard to press because it is not meant to be pressed on a regular basis. Our authorized Mitutoyo repair technicians use a dull rounded tip pick to press origin buttons. Also, the origin button sometimes needs to be pressed for up to 5 seconds. I reccomend that you try holding it for at least 10 seconds just to ensure you've held it long enough.
