Had my pupils put a different coloured marker on their punctuation once they had finished their writing. For example put a blue marker on your capital letters, a red on your full stops and a green on your commas. It was a great visual way for them to self check their work. Only have one red marker on your whole page of writing? You need to go back and add more full stops.
