First of all, the trays sent by default (as per the sellers description) are medium. I am a woman with a relatively small jaw, and these fit me okay. I say only okay, because my issue was with the angle of the 'flare' of the guard (it looks closer to a "V" than a "U" in shape), rather than the overall size. I requested a smaller guard to check and was sent this, but realised that I was better off with the medium. Secondly, the actual kit includes clear instructions but you can't quite prepare yourself for the exact angle you'll need to push the guard into your mouth at or how firm to do it. I recommend watching a few videos and play about with the guard in your mouth (WITHOUT the putty) first. When you do go for it, I personally suggest doing the bottom guard first - if it goes a bit wrong and therefore doesn't fit perfectly you'll want the top teeth to come out better. I found the process easy enough, though I pressed a little too hard and exposed the plastic of the guard in a few places. Sending it all back (and I did send back everything, including the smaller guard I was sent and putty pots) was easy with the medical bag and pre-addressed mailing bag provided. I worried about protecting my imprints so sent them back in the box. I quickly received my trays with a white storage case, and was keen to try them. I noticed that one of my back teeth on one side had been left out, probably where I had pressed too hard, but didn't mind as it's mainly my central teeth I need to whiten. I am using whitening gels purchased from a dentist, the trays hold and distribute the gel well. I am mostly pleased with the comfort. I will say though that the edges whilst not too rough or jagged, do irritate my mouth if I'm forced to talk when I have them in. They take some getting used to, but again overall they are comfortable. Lastly, my partner has a rather expensive set of trays from his dentist. They are a little more refined (smoother edges) and lighter, but there is little difference. Consider this - I asked the dentist about getting just trays from him, he told me NOT to bother as it's the bulk of what they charge, a mere £160 (of a total £300 for the full package). I researched different sellers and read many reviews, even contacted two dentists to compare pricing. I settled that i had nothing to lose ordering on-line. The product arrived promptly with simple instructions. I mixed the putty as advised but made a mistake when pushing my teeth into the blue trays, i centred my mouth to the putty but really i should have put my teeth closer to the blue area where the roof of my mouth should go. What happened was my teeth became squished up against the blue tray - through the putty. It felt painful as i my teeth needed more space. However, i followed the instructions and counted down the seconds in desperation to remove the trays. Once relieved of the moulds i could see a lot of the blue plastic and there was not a clear gum line. I called ProWhite in a semi panic and they advised me to send them back as normal and they would try and work with what they had. A week or so later the custom made trays arrived. I am very impressed, they 'roughly' fit my teeth - especially considering my faux par. I contacted ProWhite with the understanding i needed to pay for more putty etc to start again. Unbelievably they bent over backwards, listened to my complaints with the plastic not fitting flush in my mouth and AGAIN said they would work with the mould i had sent in initially and would post out another lot of custom made trays FREE OF CHARGE. Three days later they arrived and considering my mistakes with the putty they are FANTASTIC. The lower tray fits like a glove, the upper is almost perfect, just one tooth isn't quite right and that is the tooth that was completely squashed on the blue plastic. That one tooth is 85% fitted so i am able to get the benefit of the tray. Perhaps after a few goes with bleaching gel i may need a new mould but i have complete peace of mind that ProWhite are more than capable and i will place the order with them if i need to. On the note of teeth whitening i have ordered 22% nitewhite, after 2 hours my teeth where whiter on the bottom but not so light around my gum line, sensitivity was very high. I used a re-mineralising gel afterwards and rubbed Sensodyne onto my teeth every hour before bedtime. In the morning the sensitivity was fine.
