Why not try a cheaper version and if that works then buy this one. **Q: Hi would these scare seagulls?** A: No. I have two on my table outside and as I write this a seagull is walking between the two staring at each! **Q: Where do you put the sand in the owl. My owl has got a place at the bottom for batteries and dont see anywhere else it could go.** A: They don't take batteries, they move as they are caught by the breeze. There is a removable plastic bung in the base, this will then allow you to fill/part fill with water, soil, sand, or anything else to weight them. Alternatively some small screws were supplied if you have a surface you could screw them to. **Q: Does this scare away the nice birds too? Blue tits, blackbirds etc.** A: We bought these to frighten off the crows which were ruining our lawn by pecking small holes and also making a mess with our flower pots. Since putting these owls onto our fence, it has made a difference as we only see a couple of crows now and again.
