I used it for the first time this past weekend, and I was so impressed with it, I just ordered another 5 stands for our music team! Unlike what a previous reviewer wrote, this stand should be able to support the heaviest of mics. I have a Heil PR 35, and it easily supported it. All that needs to be done is to sufficiently tighten the boom arm clutch with the large thumb screw. The clutch has rubber washers in it, which do an excellent job of holding the boom steady. I really can't believe how heavy this stand is. I had a few other musicians pick it up when it was folded up, and they also couldn't believe it. The only thing that I could wish would be for the boom arm to telescope out an additional 6 inches.
