They have a fraction of the possible setup parameters of my Hitachi VFD's but I don't have any need for the fancy parameters and they really just get in the way making initial configuration more difficult. If your income depends on the proper functioning of your machinery I can see why you would want to use a name brand VFD with good support and a good warranty. Or is there a larger one that works better for this applicati** A: It should work, this converter runs at 50 hertz, it ramps up from 0 to 50 hertz slowly. I am using on a 30” band saw that is very hard starting and it works flawless. You will have to Remove the factory switch on your compressor and wire vfd in its place, I am not sure of the wires for the pressure switch. But yes this vfd will convert single to 3 phase. **Q: Does this unit have auto-start when input is energized?** A: It can if you set that option. Defaults to no. **Q: I continue to get tE error no matter what i do. Heard a pop inside the unit im guessing a cap blew. Anyone have similar problems?** A: I can't answer your question specifically, but I have had 4 of these units fail. IMHO, these units are sub standard. None of the ones which failed were being "pushed", all of them were rated at least 50% above the load they were controlling. I suspect you are looking at a failure oh one of the triacs, not a cap. Ran on 230 volt single going in to supply 3 phase out at 60 Hz, no variable speed used. Unfortunately it only lasted 1 year with the panel dead, no output. Motor only pulled 15 amps under load and bought this oversized due to running on single phase.
