The only difference I can tell is the mop head on the original is colored blue. My new mop is green, but the material and the rest of the mop is identical to my original mop. **Q: I have 2 dogs with hardwood floor and tile...will this really work for the sweeping mopping?** A: I have 5 dogs and 9 cats(not a hoarder) I keep the house pretty clean but with that many animals there is always some hair. What I have found and have tile floors with some throw rugs, that if you vac first the mop is excellent even for washing the rugs(I would say better than a carpet cleaner). I admit sometimes with working a great deal am too lazy to vac so get my bucket out put the mop in let it soak(very important) then wash the floors. The mop will take hair up but after floors dry there is still some hair on the floor. I use a lemon oil, white vinegar and a touch of dawn cleaning mixture. It is hard to beat this mop I still have the original roller! I had bought an extra one and that was around 4 years ago! **Q: how do you replace the mop head?** A: you have to unscrew it and then pull the mop head off. **Q: would this mop work on concrete outdoors?** A: I would say no, unless the concrete is very smooth. The mop is high quality and works well, but normal concrete will shred the sponge portion. I've bought similar products in the past, but this one definitely feels a lot more commercial grade. It has a strong adjustable aluminum handle that doesn't feel like it will bend easily. The rollers are made out of heavy duty hard plastic. The PVA sponge is nice and dense and feels like it will last a long time. Just make sure you soak it for about 5 minutes on your initial use. Whoever designed this product really thought of everything. The rollers are ribbed, and does a really good job removing dirt and hair while simultaneously wringing out excess water. It's lightweight aluminum, so it is not as tiring to push around. I used to own a similar stainless steel mop, and this mop is significantly lighter. I also like that the roller mechanisms are made of plastic. Our previous mop had metal parts that started to rust after about 6 months, and the rust would soak into the sponge. I don't have to worry about that with this mop. The best part of this product is how effective it is at lifting dirt and hair off of our tile and laminate floors. We have a Dyson V8 Animal vacuum, but this mop picked up tons of dirt and pet hair that the Dyson left behind. The sponge has deep ridges in it, which easily traps any loose hair. I did not encounter any color bleeding of the sponge that others have mentioned.
