The splash back is integral with the separate cooker unit. **Q: what is the top made of, i have heard that it is not good in damp conditions, top bubbles - is this true?** A: I am not sure what it is made of hun but we have had no problems with any bubbles, maybe it could be a one off thing what you have heard. **Q: Is the surface heatproof?** A: I have a 2 burner gas hob on mine and that hasn't caused a problem. I wouldn't put a hot pan directly on the surface though, I think that would warp it. I always use a wooden board for hot pans. Incidentally don't leave it out in the rain because the damp will get into the surface and spoil it (still perfectly useable though). I'd recommend getting the wind guard too. Overall very pleased with it. **Q: can you leave this field kitchen out side in the rain?** A: The kitchen tops are a coated particle board they are wipe clean, and we have left ours outside when there hss been heavy dew I dont think prologed heavy rain will do it much good over time.
