**Q: where is it made?**
A: The Mueller Austria blender is also made in china.  Super disappointed that this product is not made in the US.  Would happily pay even more than $159 for a quality US product that won't wind up in a landfill in a few years.  Come on Vitamix!

A: it is definitely not silicon- some type of hard plastic that  they probably chose to protect glass or ceramic containers you might use for mixing. Multi speed with 4 blades powerful and quiet. no regrets here
