After the screws on the hinges came out two or three times and I pinched my fingers badly trying to hold it up myself, I gave up and dismantled the whole thing.Now I have a piece of board with sandpaper stuck to it. Quite costly at $57. But, I tied a strap to the back, and can hold it securely myself with one hand, while giving treats to the dog with the other for each good series of scratches. The reality is that I could have made this for a few bucks and saved a lot of hassle.If you understand shaping a dog's behavior, teaching the front paws is very easy. I haven't started on the back paws yet, this will be more challenging, but with time, my dog will get it. But, I have experience with training behaviors. I'm not sure how easy it would be to train a dog to do back paws if you haven't that experience.As for the item - if you have a small dog with little enthusiasm for the game of scratching, it might hold up and work for you. Otherwise, I'd go to the hardware store and buy a piece of wood and sandpaper. I don't know why I ever thought that a bigger dog (Labrador retriever) would be able to scratch at something so flimsy and not collapse it every time.I'd recommend going for the idea and making your own solution, but saving your dollars on this actual item. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great! *by R***T on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 24 November 2022* Bought a dog dremel and didnt know how to make my dog adjust to it and didnt have the patience for it either. Spending $50 something on this scratch board has been so worth it so far. It was pretty easy to train my dog to use it for her front paws. The back paws are more challenging but we'll get there eventually.
