## Description

This IR repeater extension cable can extend the range of a remote control. This IR repeater cable lets you store your equipment out of sight, yet still operate it with its infrared remote control. The kit includes an IR receiver with a 6 foot cord, which you need to place so that you can point your remote control at it. The receiver then transmits the signal to the repeater, which relay it out to the transmitter bulb that should be placed over the IR "eye" on your component. Installed a media wall with soundbar behind the tv hence, needed this to boost the ability to control the soundbar. This works brilliantly. Range is very good and signal strength works well. It’s easy to install and use. Only downside is comment is the sticky back is not sticky enough to secure hence, I used additional double sided tape which has done the job just fine. Really reasonably priced and fast delivery. Highly recommend. I’m happy
Review: A Very Useful Device to Get Invisible Light Round Corners and Into Dark Spaces - This USB powered device receives the signals from your infra-red remote controls, amplifies them and beams them out of a transmitter at the end of a wire. This can be pointed towards the devices you want to control. Unlike beams of IR light, which we all know travel in straight lines and are blocked by cupboard doors, the wire can go round corners and obstructions. I have an IR controlled HDMI switch matrix which is situated behind my TV to hide the unattractive web of cables connected to it. The small deceive is positioned on the stand next to the TV where it reliably picks up the commands for the matrix. I found the sticky pad on the transmitter, designed to enable it to be stuck over the receiver in the device being controlled, was not very helpful. I removed the sticker which made the light path from the transmitter more transparent and simply positioned the transmitter so the emitted IR would illuminate the receiver area. I also found the red LED on the receiver, indicating the device is powered on, rather distracting next to an OLED TV in a darkened room. The LED serves no purpose except everything these days needs a LED. A useful LED would be one that flashed to confirm an IR signal from the remote control has been detected. UPDATE I followed the advice of another reviewer, brave enough to open up the device and modify it. The LED no longer burns annoyingly but usefully flashes to confirm a command has been received. A good product made even better with a bit of soldering.

**Q: Will this work on a new bt tv / youview box? i just received a new one in the post today and the magic eye i had for my sky box doesn’t work. thanks**
A: I am not sure who answered 'Yes' to this question, but these boxes use an unusual coding system and the answer is actually 'no'.
I checked with Keene (UK based IR distribution specialists) and they confirmed that these remotes are 'problematic' even for them, let alone a chinese tat supplier.

**Q: I need about 5 meters, is it possible for me to extend the wire or is that pushing the limitations of IR or the device?**
A: I don't see why this wouldn't work with a male to female USB extension...

**Q: Should the receiver light respond by flashing when receiving a signal. Tried three different remotes nothing changes on the receiver**
A: Make sure that you have the the reciever and the emitter the right way round I didnt at first as I was getting nothing so swap the ends round it should sort it

**Q: As my Tv is in a bedroom and box in living room approx 30 feet away , What is the range of the signal that can be sent please?**
A: No. The design means the small (signal sender) is in your room and the large relay piece is next to the box

Brilliant infra red sensor. Installed a media wall with soundbar behind the tv hence, needed this to boost the ability to control the soundbar. This works brilliantly. Range is very good and signal strength works well. It’s easy to install and use. Only downside is comment is the sticky back is not sticky enough to secure hence, I used additional double sided tape which has done the job just fine. Really reasonably priced and fast delivery. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simple Cheap Solution - Works Well - but NOT 10 feet length!

Purchased this IR extender to control an old Apple TV that I wanted hidden away in the cupboard. As other reviews say, this unit has a very bright red LED that's always on when it's powered, however I've found that the field of view to receive your IR commands is excellent, so it can be hidden away to be less obtrusive... I've attached ours to the underneath of the TV cabinet, so cannot be seen unless you are on the floor. The cable to the blaster is a good length, but the USB power cable is not as long - it would be great if the manufacturer spent a few extra pence on having the cables of equal length. The USB power cable is approx 1.3m (4.3ft) and the IR blaster cable is approx 2m (6ft) - so not quite the 10ft that is advertised in the product title, but it does also say in the description that it's 6ft - but this is not the case for the power - so if that's an issue for you, beware! I'm hoping that a USB extension cable will carry enough power for me from the TV to power this, so it's only active when the TV is powered up. The unit works perfectly with our Apple TV, it's small enough to be discretely hidden out of sight and is a good price, so even with the discrepancy in the cable length, I would recommend this product.
