At first it is a bit of a faff calibrating it, easier if you have one person to operate the shower and measuring bag, and one to set the timer. Bear in mind that as far as I can tell, if you calibrate incorrectly or want to use on a different shower you have to take the battery out and reset it all. You can reset the target any time though. I was disappointed at first that it only measures litres used and doesn't also have a timer, because that would seem more tangible to me than litres (it seems more abstract to measure in litres although it is a concrete measure!) But now I find I like to work in litres as it's much easier to gauge my progress in being quicker by trying to cut down by a litre or two (for my shower 9-18secs) than trying to cut down in seconds or minutes. I now really like the fact that the unit shows the actual clock time rather than a timer as I can see how much time I have before I have to leave for work etc without trying to remember what time I got in and then add how long I've been in to see what time it is!You need to remove all traces of soap/limescale etc from tiles before placing otherwise it will fall off. After doing this it stays in place no problem.I got one for my place and one for my boyfriend's. He said there was no point getting one for him but I got it for me to use at his. I notice that he uses it EVERY shower at mine and his though! One thing if you have really long showers at the moment, the max you can set it to is 99 litres which is about 8-12 mins. If you set to less than 99, and you go over, it beeps 3 times when you reach your target limit, then it will keep measuring and beeps continuously for a minute or so or until you stop it, when it gets to 99L. That's quite handy if you go over the target you can see by how much. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent except sucker *by J***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 24 January 2013* I wanted to get a timer as a more direct way to show the children just how much excessive time (and therefore water) they spend in the shower - and to give them something to aim for. I have a 9 year old who seems to think that the main purpose of having a shower is to provide an uninterrupted location for singing and dancing!This timer was very simple to set up and program with the included bag to get a flow rate rate for the specific shower being used, so as well as the time spent showering you can tell the water consumption as well if you're interested. After setting it once with the desired countdown time, nothing more needs to be done except for pressing one button to start the timer and the same button again to stop it. Very useful that it remembers this countdown time setting as I suspect anything more complicated to do at the start of the shower (like setting the timer amount) would soon end up in the too-much-hassle pile. Simplicity is good!Many people before me have written about the fairly useless suction cup on the timer, so I'll not labour that point. Simply to say, that is the reason for knocking a star off the rating. Thankfully a lanyard is also included, so I just use this to hang it in the shower cubicle. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A timer, not a flow meter. *by F***K on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 31 May 2017* I wanted a simple timer with display, but this was the closest I could find.The process to measure water flow by filling a bag to the line is inaccurate, messy, and unnecessary. Even if you manage to time your shower accurately delivering a litre, the flow rate will likely change. An electric shower run at a constant temperature will have a higher flow rate in summer, as the incoming water supply warms up, and a simple mixer valve may vary considerably according to the state of the hot water tank.I simply ran the timer for a minute to "calibrate" the flow as 1 l/min, then set the limit to the number of minutes I wanted. Now it is a simple timer, just as I wanted. Easy to use. Sticks to the tiles well, not falling as the button is pressed, and has a cord to save it if it is dislodged. No sign of water damage after a few weeks.My only complaint in operation is that the alarm sounds again much later (after 99', I think), if we forget to press the button when we finish.My son and I are learning to limit our profligate cleaning rituals.
