Product description This Wonderful 3in1 tournament travel set is made from the best pieces of beach and birch wood and is perfectly finished by hands. Dark squares are carefully prepared to a beautiful brown colour. Lighter squares are left as pale natural wood and are lacquered with perfect finish. Playing pieces are made from beach which are carved and painted by hands. Board lines, numbers and letters are near black. The dark playing pieces are stained in the same colour as the dark squares on the board. The chessboard have a high gloss lacquered finish. Review: Beautifully made but smaller than listed. - Beautifully made but smaller than listed. This board is listed as being approximately 30 to 31cm. It is exactly 26.67cm, 10.5 inches. I have attached pics that show the scale. Other than that it is a beautifully made board. The pieces are a little small for my taste also. But this would be an ideal starter chess set for children I must say and would be a great travel size box. I have ordered a larger size from this company because the board and box is very nicely made. This is the reason this item did not lose any stars! There is no doubting the craftsmanship that has gone in to making this. Just look at the pics!

A well made, great looking set. Only issue was that two of the chess pieces had a small nib on the bottom, making them wobble on the board. This was easily fixed by removing the felt, filing down the nib and then gluing the felt back on.
