**Q: This rest is more than double the price of the basic Caldwell The Rock rest -- are the features worthy of that increase?**
A: I have the BR and like it. Looking at both rests there are some differences. If you are just using a rest for casual shooting and sighting in, I think The Rock would be just fine. The BR is much heavier (13 lbs vs 5.5 lbs) and has more adjustment. The BR comes with 2 different style front bags. The front rest on the BR also has a horizontal adjustment screw for fine left/right adjustments. They perform basically the same function but the BR is beefier. I think the BR would be more stable and more precisely adjusted for point of aim. **Q: how wide a forearm will fit**
A: When the cradle ears are adjusted to the outermost limit, the width between the ear plates is 5 ⅞ inches. The supplied three-lobe (black) bag, when partially filled, provides a flat bottom support 3 ½ inches wide for the rifle forearm. The side bolsters of this bag accommodate a stock about 4 ½ inches wide. This is adequate for target rifles, but may not be wide enough for a benchrest stock. Note that the cradle ears are removable.

When I received the rest I was keen to try it out and set off for the club. I was very soon bitterly disappointed with the results that I got using the new rest. After many trials and much examination of the unit I discovered that the large wheel which adjusts vertical positioning had been drilled wrongly causing a definite wobble in the vertical axis. I tried to contact the makers in the states by email but was ignored. I then discovered that they were on Facebook so left a message asking why my email had been ignored. Within two hours I had a reply which eventually led to the faulty parts being shipped over to me from the states. Since the parts were replaced the rest now works as it should and I am very pleased with its operation and it has increased my average considerably.
