Mine are always being blown away by the wind unless weighted down. **Q: Is this a true "hot composter" that can deal with meat waste, etc?** A: No, it is a standard garden composter but a bit bigger and more solid. We have had to reinforce it with mesh as rats were able to enlarge the air holes to gain access. **Q: Does it have to be in full sun** A: No as long composter is positioned to recieve an air flow through the vents and some sun and not in an area where the materials can freeze in the winter. Water compost materials occassionally. **Q: Does it have a bottom?** A: No! But you can separately buy a fence/base for it. Little clips tend to break off on their own but still standing after nearly a year - waiting to see what compost is like. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Pleased with product, hell to construct *by S***4 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 June 2014* The first instruction is place on level ground...this is absolutely vital. I tried to do this single-handed on slightly uneven ground and the number of times I got the the panels more or less in place and balanced only to have it all collapse like a house of cards (onto the delphiniums). I nearly cried. The instructions say to put in the bottom 'half' panels first i.e. to build from the ground up. I eventually found it much better to put the top 'half' panels in first as they have an extra plastic lug to keep them together. I think the bottom ones are designed to be easier to remove to dig out the compost.The capacity is great for the money.
