Do you need to remove them completely? New to cello tuning and never had this with issue with my violin!** A: For best results remove the peg and apply paste sparingly around the shaft of it, then wipe it around the shaft with a soft cloth to work it into the wood and remove any excess. Then tune up again. I find a little goes a long way. Make sure you’re applying some slight inward pressure on the peg while tuning up. If slipping continues you’d need to see a luthier to get a new peg reamed to fit the hole correctly. **Q: does this stop pegs from slipping?** A: This Hill peg paste works extremely well and stops the pegs from slipping ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Magic stuff *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 27 March 2022* I own a wonderful handmade fiddle with great tone, but rarely used it because the strings kept slipping and it was difficult to keep in tune. As a last resort, I decided to try Hill's peg compound. I removed all the strings, applied a light rub of the compound to each peg and turned them back and fore quite a few times before replacing the strings. The result was amazing. The pegs turn easily, but don't slip, which means my fiddle now holds its tuning very well.
