## Description

Zinsser Peel Stop Clear Binding Primer 1 Litre ZINPSP1L

Review: Excellent Primer for Peeling Surfaces - I’m very impressed with the Zinsser Peel Stop Clear Binding Primer. It worked extremely well on areas with peeling and flaking paint, helping stabilize the surface before repainting. The primer applies smoothly, dries clear, and creates a solid base for topcoats. I also appreciated how easy it was to use, with excellent coverage and quick drying time. It helped save a lot of preparation work by binding loose edges effectively and improving paint adhesion on damaged surfaces. The quality feels professional-grade, and the results were noticeably better compared to standard primers I’ve used before. Overall, this is an excellent product for repairing and preparing problem surfaces, and I would definitely recommend it for decorating and renovation projects.
Review: It’s all in the preparation. Read the instructions carefully - This product is brilliant as long as it’s used correctly. I’ve used Zinsser products before but not this particular one. I had some stone window sills ( previously painted with masonry paint) to re-paint and they were pretty flaky and chipped. Having spent a day with a scraper removing all the loose paint I decided I needed to prime the surface before applying more masonry paint. I checked out Zinsser because their products are usually excellent and came across this. So having read all the instructions you do need to prepare the surfaces well before using. I’d already removed the flaky paint so I needed to sand with a rough sandpaper and wash them off with my chosen cleaner to remove all grease and dirt and any mould and moss needed treatment too. Please note this product does not work on surfaces that are damper than 14 %. You can check with a damp meter. So wherever you are using it you must deal with any damp issues first. If you don’t your top paint surface will bubble. On opening the tin the peel stop is the consistency of milk. It needs to be this thin so it creeps under any raised edges to stick them down and stop them peeling. It applies really well with a brush and has great adhesion as long as you’ve done the preparation. The coverage is fantastic…it goes a long way. It dries in two to four hours depending on the weather. I found it was dry in two as it was warm and sunny. You can get away with one coat but if your surfaces are bad you can apply two. You are left with a slightly shiny surface. I left the window sills overnight and then applied two coats of masonry paint. The results were excellent. I had no bubbling, no peeling and despite the sills being over 120 years old they look great. I’m definitely going to try this on my bathroom ceiling as that does have a tendency to peel. So in conclusion this is a great product that does what it says it will as long as you follow the instructions and don’t apply on surfaces that require damp treatment.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has anyone been successful in using this to solve a flaking paint problem on a plastered bathroom ceiling?**
A: i didn't use it on a bathroom ceiling but on my boys bedroom wall that had flaking problems three times before. It has been on about 8 months and so far so good.

**Q: Hi Can this be used to stop rust reappearing on the bottom of a radiator (many products have been tried without sucess). Thanks Susan**
A: I have used this product only on peeling paint on wood - which worked well. But metal plus rust may well require a specialised product - they do exist. try a very good hardware shop for advice and / or the internet. Hammerite do paints for metals - and primers, which you may need. Do you know why rust is coming through though - maybe you should start there? EG are the radiators corroded inside? There will be a solution - but on the way, there's nothing lost trying Zinsser - they have several products, not just this one.

**Q: Our door frame paint has cracked at the edges when the door has been slammed - would this help to stop further cracks/bind old cracks to paint over?**
A: Have used it on 3 places and its been good did what it say on the tin try it then don't slam the door

**Q: Can this be used as a primer for a pvc door**
A: I wouldn’t have thought so
