Would bricks be suitable as fillets to reduce burning space, bearing in mind the stove is cast iron** A: From you description I can only assume that your house gets too hot now because of new roof insulation and the KW output of fire? Adding bricks would not reduce the heat output once the fire gets up to operating condition - Remember the fuel cavity/crate in the fire is designed to be the size it is for a reason! I can only suggest that using the air vent controls to allow the fire to burn quicker will do the job however, this will burn more wood/coal. The only other thing is to open a window or two and/or internal doors, that's what I and I suspect many others do.
