    JD = Just Delicious <3

*by B***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 2, 2014*

Imagine this if you will. Picturesque Texas small town. Football games on Friday nights. Small family-owned businesses lining the streets. Greeting your neighbor as you walk into the town square. And then the rockers come to town. Welcome to Beaumont, TX folks. The women are passionate, and then men will scorch the pages. Every time I read a new Heidi McLaughlin book I think to myself, does it get any better than this? Can she make me love this couple more than the last? And then once I finish said book, I laugh at myself. Because of course she can. She writes with such fluidity that you are literally thrust into the story with the boys of 4225 West and the women whom they love and love them. First there was Liam. And like any first love, he sticks with you. Then there was Harrison, and I was all, Liam who?! But then…..in walks Jimmy “JD”, and Liam and Harrison sit pouting on the backburner. Don’t worry boys. I’ll be back.~ “I know I’m not the best man out there, but I look at you and you make me want to be better. I don’t do commitments, but when I look at you, I see a future. I see my future.” ~JD is the band member we previously knew the least about, but I always found him intriguing. You know how you can sense, without much interaction, that someone has a story to tell? JD and Jenna SCREAMED that throughout the few pages they graced in the previous books. I knew their story would be juicy, I knew it would pull at my heartstrings, and I knew I would be a puddle of much by the time it was all said and done. Heidi did NOT disappoint. If anything, she raised the bar so high, I fear Liam and Harrison will never be able to reach it. For all his reputation that precedes him, JD really is just a man who wants to love. After catching his fiancé screwing two men, he has vowed to never open his heart like that again. A child of divorce and a product of abandonment, he has serious daddy issues that carry over into his adult life. We are graced with flashbacks of his life growing up, and let me tell you, they ripped my heart out. Every child should be loved and wanted, and for them to realize they aren’t, my heart just breaks.~ I’m beginning to learn how I can work her body. It sings to me and I’m listening loud and clear. ~Jenna. Oh Jenna. I just LOVED her. She is the kind of woman you want as a friend. The kind that you know will have your back no matter what, but also someone who carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. Jenna, too, has given up on love. Trapped in an abusive marriage for far too long, she finally escaped five years ago, and settled in Beaumont. Trying to put her life back together and re-discover who she is, the last thing she is looking for is a relationship. Budding attraction and wanting to throw caution to the wind leads to a one-night stand at Josie and Liam’s wedding that neither Jenna nor JD will ever forget.~ “This is the type of passion I want in my life and if it’s short lived then so be it. I’ll cherish each moment until he takes them away from me.” ~This story is unconventional from the first page to the last. There will be times where you are wondering, what the heck?! They did everything ass-backwards. I can promise you though. When you get to know Jenna and JD and their personalities and what makes them tick, it WILL make complete sense. You WILL fall in love with them so hard your heart will ache to be filled like that. To know a love like that. To have a lover like that. Because what these two share, though they BOTH try to deny it for FAR too long, is purely magical. Sometimes our hearts know what our heads won’t yet accept. Sometimes there truly IS a reason for everything. Every small, inconsequential act adds up to bigger results. The love that these two share will dampen the pages, because your heart will literally be bursting with joy. I felt SO strongly for this couple and I was rooting for them every step of the way. There was danger, there was fear, there was friendship, but most importantly, there was love. And love ALWAYS rules at the end of the day.~ After we set sail, there's gonna be stormsJust don't lose faith in me cause I'll keep us on courseRemember this day, it's written in the starsWe're on our way to forever, girl, it's not that far... ~ If you’ve read a Beaumont book before, which seeing as this is book three I would certainly hope you have, then you know that almost as strong as love, family is the presiding force in this book. Not just the family we are born with, but the family you choose. Because that is what 4225 West is. A family. Once you are in the fold, you are there for life. That was never more true nor endearing than in Finding My Forever. More than the love between JD and Jenna, my heart simply sobbed between these interactions. They way they all protected each other, fought for each other, and well, you just have to read it for yourself. I have NEVER loved this many characters in a book/series before as I do these people. I just…..it’s so hard to put into words what Heidi’s writing does to me.Like I said before, just when I think these books cannot possibly get ANY better, they do. My only qualm with them is when they are over. I try to read as slowly as possibly, but I simply can’t help but devour each and every word. I could live in these books and be happy for the rest of my life. There isn’t a single thing I would change, and I eagerly await the next installment. I cannot wait to see where Heidi takes us next, but I know it will be magical. Like his name, JD, this book was JUST DELICIOUS. This series holds a place in my heart that no other will ever occupy.

    An honest review

*by L***. on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 8, 2014*

I read a ton of books on my Kindle, sometimes several a week with my long commute, mostly romances. I've been let down by my fair share of books but have never taken the time to write a review before as I think that's the great thing about having a Kindle and getting deals on books (I paid $3.99 for this one) is that you can take a chance on an author and it doesn't always work out and you move on to something else. But after seeing the almost exclusively 5 star rave reviews (96/116 at the time I am writing this only a little over a week after it published) posted for this book, I had to say something. And for what it's worth, I do know that you of course can't always trust Amazon reviews because there are ways to manipulate them by interested parties, but the plot sounded good and it was a series which I like and as I said, take a chance on a new author.While it's certainly not the worst book I've ever read (look I even gave it 2 stars instead of 1)...but between the typos, the jumping all over the place plot -- back in time/forward in time/skipping huge chunks of the story to the point you are confused and have to skip back to figure out if you missed something -- and the sometimes cringe-worthy dialogue, there is just no way that this book has a legitimate 5 star average rating from almost 100 people.And full disclosure, I knew that this was a series and admit that I did not read the first two books, but want to point out that this is not a stand alone book. It does have a beginning and an end but there are major characters and plot points from the previous two books mixed in throughout and there is no attempt made to catch you up or give them any context. You can sort of figure it out but there are a lot of secondary characters and it does get confusing.Here were my issues (and I'm not including a plot summary because there are plenty in the other reviews to choose from, but):****WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD****-- I've seen way worse but there are a good amount of typos, misuse of words, and awkward sentences that you have to reread to understand in this book. If this is the type of thing that bothers you, this is probably not the book for you.--The first 25% of the book I was thinking, okay this is a decent setup for a story (bad boy rocker [Jimmy] was burned by his evil ex-fiance while secretly pining for a sweet hometown girl [Jenna] who has a secret past) but after devoting the first quarter of the book repeating over and over how Jimmy never wants to settle down, screws everything in sight (literally), and never wants kids...literally out of nowhere--BAM--they are married, she is having his baby, he can't wait to be a father, and he is pledging his devotion to her and his desire to settle down and live life as a monogamous married man. Huh? There was literally no build up or explanation to why he had this change of heart. He just...did. And you I guess are just supposed to go on with the rest of the story and the first 25% is a thing of the past. And I did hang in there, all the way to the end in fact, because fairly soon after this point I knew I wanted to write a review and didn't feel it was fair to do so if I didn't finish the book.--I'm all about the drama, it's why I read this genre, but drama for no reason over and over just gets grating. There are seriously endless examples like this, but I'll pick one. Why did the nameless ICU nurse have to be evil, stealing the sonogram from Jimmy's wallet (I guess to sell to the tabloids?) while he is in a coma (after being shot in the chest while on stage performing a show by Jenna's evil, physically abusive ex-husband) and being a full out bit** to Jenna (whose husband is in a coma and YOU ARE AN ICU NURSE)? It served absolutely no purpose to the plot, we didn't know anything about her before or after, and it was so random it took me out of the story immediately. A book needs a good villain or two but random background characters don't all have to have secret agendas...that we never find out more about.--I'm also completely willing to suspend disbelief or have to make some assumptions that are never fully explained (again you wouldn't read this genre if you couldn't) but there were things in here that legit made no sense because the plot was completely unfinished in places. For instance, what was the dad's problem with his son that he would do what he did (he sleeps with his evil ex-fiance, gets her pregnant and they try to pin it on Jimmy) to him? What was his motivation? Her motivation? What was their end game? Because in the end it's never explained at all. That plot line is all over the place until they eventually all have a confrontation (in the hospital room where Jimmy's recovering from his bullet wound coma) where Jimmy tells them off and the dad and ex-fiance just go away, never to be heard from again. We never find out why they did it or what happens to them. Maybe they come back in the next book(s) in the series, but I personally will have to live with never knowing.--Every character in this story, particularly Jimmy and Jenna, have a serious case of TSTL (too stupid to live) syndrome. Her evil ex-husband (Damien) is after her for the whole book, threatening repeatedly that he WILL get her back, following her everywhere, showing up at her house, and just being generally menacing and as previously mentioned, eventually shoots Jimmy on stage (he sneaks into a stadium concert wearing a trench coat and hat, shoots him on stage in full view of a crowd and security and still escapes to return for the final showdown) and yet they never seem to take security very seriously even after that incident. He still manages to show up at their house at the end when they are walking up their driveway (where are the cops? his security? is he not a major international rock star?) bringing the baby home from the hospital and Damien is in the end shot by some other random character we don't really know right before he is about to shoot the baby. Oy.--This is admittedly maybe a little nit picky but while I love a British accent, and when it's done well it's great, if you aren't British I'd imagine they are tough to write. I admire the attempt but it just didn't work here and again, takes you out of the story. Occasionally saying bloke and arse and spelling it "colour" or "tyre" when the British main character says color or tire, while speaking like an American the rest of the time (and there is a throwaway line in the beginning of the book that attempts to explain this away) just didn't work for me.--Repetition of a certain word is another major one that pulls you right out of a story and there are several here, "Little One" I'm also looking at you. But combine repetition with cheesy and unromantic nicknames and that will definitely do the trick. For me the most jarring, cringe-worthy thing about this book is the fact that Jimmy's pet name for Jenna is "Sweet Lips" and he calls her that **43** times throughout the story. Culminating in this gem towards the end that I literally laughed out loud at...her water has just broken and she is in labor and he comes running into the room, takes one look at her and says: "Did you piss yourself, Sweet Lips?". Now that's the stuff of romance.These are just some of the things that bothered me but I'm not going to go on. As I said, I admire anyone who has the drive to sit down and write a book, story, novella, whatever. And I've read some equally bad and even way worse things over the years. But to see these endless, over the top 5 star reviews praising the plot, the characters and their romance, and how it was just the best book ever, pushed me for the first time to take the time to write a review that is honest and written with no motivation other than to not have someone else spend hard earned money on something that isn't what it seems. I'll be very curious to see if as this book is out for a while longer if the reviews don't just start to balance out.

    Fine, but themes repetitive

Contains spoilers of this book and the series as a whole..!!!The book was a fine read. I actually read this book last (including the next gen books)The book is like the others a good read to pass the time.I didn't find i enjoyed it much though as the same pregnancy theme seems to be a constant throughout the whole series and next gen series.It is either the main characters being pregnant or the ex's having faking a pregnancy to try to trap the guys.I also found his use of Wifey annoying but that might just be a me thing.I do like that Jenna got her own book and it's good that she found her happy ending.I also like how each person gets their own books including the kids in next gen books. I like to see the life progression of the whole gang and see how they all fit together.
