Everything nowadays is wireless, but wired provides the faster and more secure connection. The steel is thick enough for me and is not flimsy. I like to save space so the short mount works for me. If starting a home network then I recommend this chassis. Review: Two major flaws with this case - I really wanted to like this case due to it being able to support a full ATX motherboard, but there are two major flaws. 1) mounting a half-height PCI card is kluggy because of the gap between the motherboard and the back of the case, and 2) the case only accepts a flex ATX PS, and the PS is mounted completely INSIDE the case, meaning the heat from the PS goes right into the case vs venting to the outside.
