I cried when they discontinued it. Literally tears. The horrors! A few weeks ago, the last one started to act up and I started the search again for a reasonable replacement. This fit the bill. It took several weeks to arrive but was worth the wait. This has the added advantage of being USB so no more "oh my god, the mouse is dead and I can't find a battery without stealing it from the remote." The scroll wheel runs smoothly. The track ball is responsive and easy to control. The buttons have a nice tactile response when clicked. Works well with both Windows and Mac. One of the side-switches also appears to stick a little when depressed from the wrong angle.
