Jack up a rear wheel clear of the floor and measure between the spring coils about half way up the spring. The gap should be between 26mm and 38mm. Warm the assisters in a bucket of hot water for 15 to 20 minutes and use washing up liquid in both semi-circular groves of each assister as a lubricant. It is a messy job so don't forget the disposable gloves. I find the assisters very good when towing. You may need to reset your headlights after fitting so mark the centre of each beam on a wall or garage door before starting. You can reset the beams to these marks afterwards. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Coil spring assister *by N***S on 11 April 2013* After initially thinking this would contain springs for both sides - which it doesn't and to be fair doesn't say it does either bought another one and fitted to the car.We tow a caravan so needed stiffer rear suspension to help prevent the "undulating" effect of towing something heavy.These are a bit fiddly to fit so my tips:BOIL for 15-20 minutes immediately prior to fittingJACK the wheels of the ground - you don;t need to remove the wheel unless you want more access to the suspension springWEAR GLOVESGREASE UP the coil and your suspension spring with LOTS of washing up liquidBE PREPARED for some huffin and puffinThese will go on with some of the proverbial elbow grease and once they are on the improvement is great - well worth the work ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ford S-MAX 2006 *by R***Y on 25 October 2016* When towing my car was very bouncy when loaded with the kids in the car, so much so my boy was very ill. These things went on within 2 mins each.I first measured the coil gap whilst the car is jacked (make sure you dont compress the springs when jacking, try to find a jacking point on the chassis), in my case it was 36mm gap.When they arrived i boiled the rubber for about 10 mins.I then jack the car up so the springs were slack (wheels also off the road) then used axle stands for safety!!!.I then applied copper slip to both indents so they would go in easy and wouldnt squeak in the future.I then feed them in from one corner - they slid straight in with no problems.Lowered the car back - the car was initially looking like it was sitting high but that as since settled.TOP TIP!!!!These things are just lumps of rubber - i picked up 2 from amazon market place for half the price new. The ones i received were open but unused so it looks like they may have been returned because they are the wrong size.
