Review: Solid, very adjustable but you'll need a chisel! - Good quality product and more robust/adjustable than the type that are a plastic roller on a spring. More substantial than I was expecting - the roller ball is bigger than a standard marble (if these still exist!). The photos on the website suggest you can get away without a chisel but even for a basic fitting you'll need to countersink the non-ball side and for a neat job, or if the door hasn't got a substantial gap between it and the frame, you'll need to countersink (rebate?) the rectangular pieces on both sides. I was very happy with the result - which was on a substantial door. It wouldn't hold a front door in a heavy breeze but wouldn't be far off

**Q: What thickness gap I need between door and frame?**
A: The door catch fits flush inside door so you would need a 3-5 mm gap.

**Q: Am I right that this product don't need a door handle and spindle to work with?  It is not for locking a door. It is for stabilize the door?**
A: Whether you need a door handle or not depends on the door frame. In most homes, the door frame only allows you to push the door open in one direction (using the ball catches). You need a handle to pull the door in the other direction, because of the door frame.

**Q: some odd measurements in this day and age - can you give dimentions in metric measurements please?**
A: Dear, this is the metric size you need.
Faceplate measures 2.54cm W x 6.67cm H. Cylinder measures 1.69cm diameter x 6.99cm deep. Matching strike plate measures 1.625cm W x 6.67cm L. Fastening hardware included.

A: Hello, the door ball catch is suitable for your room door that door thickness is enough thicken to install it in. If your cupboard door thickness is over 3.5 cm, also can be installed.

Very nice pair of ball door catches. A good point to make is that you can make minor adjustments to the protrusion of the ball which helps with the fitting. Having fitted two of these I would definitely recommend using your own screws as the ones supplied are a very poor quality and the head snaps off when screwing into wood (which is a pain as you end up with a broken screw in the location where you want to screw in). If you have your own gold/brass coloured screws then it is a good item to buy. If it weren't for the screws I would have given it 5 stars.
