## Description

It's time to put a stop to weed-infested lawns - take action with Scotts Turf Builder Weed & Feed5. This weed killer plus lawn fertilizer utilizes WeedGrip Technology to grip onto and kill the weeds you see and the ones you don't. This lawn weed killer with fertilizer controls over 50 listed weeds, including clover, dandelion, and plantain. In addition, this weed control and lawn food feeds to thicken your lawn and crowd out future weeds. This weed control plus fertilizer product is a great lawn care product for property owners, DIY homeowners and lawn care enthusiasts to use during their lawn maintenance to kill weeds, bringing them one step closer to a weed-free lawn. Apply Scotts Turf Builder Weed & Feed5 when weeds are actively growing and daytime temperatures are consistently between 60°F and 90°F. Make sure your grass is wet from dew or watering, as this helps particles stick to weed leaves to produce the best results. We recommend using a Scotts spreader: Set Scotts broadcast/rotary spreaders to 3 3/4, Scotts drop spreaders to 7 1/4, Scotts Wizz hand-held spreader to 4 1/4, or the Scotts Elite spreader to 4 1/4. Do not water your lawn for 24 hours after application or apply if rain is expected within the next 24 hours. Do NOT apply to St. Augustinegrass (including Floratam), Dichondra, Lippia, Carpetgrass, and Bentgrass. Do not allow people and pets to enter lawn until dusts have settled. One 33.95 lb. bag of Scotts Turf Builder Weed & Feed5 covers 12,000 sq. ft., helping DIYers kill lawn weeds in front yards and backyards while providing lawn nourishment for grass growth.

Review: Works exactly as advertised! - Simple and effective. Attach it to the hose, spray it on and let it do its thing. The weeds start dying off and the grass responds well to the fertilizer, noticeably greener and healthier looking after a few applications. Easy to use and covers a good amount of ground without going through the bottle too fast. Does exactly what it says on the label. Solid product, would buy again.
Review: Works very well but be patient, some weeds take longer to die than others! - I've never used this product before, but I'm glad I found it! My lawn had gotten so full of weeds, I decided to just kill everything with a broad-spectrum vegetation killer and start over. Waited until Fall, then sprayed the lawn, waited 2-3 weeks and sprayed it again to make sure everything was dead. Had to look at bare earth all winter, but it was for the best. This is where I messed up... In the spring, I tilled up the entire area and immediately put down some very expensive grass seed. I've since learned that it's best to till, wait a week or so for the weed seeds you just tilled up to sprout, then spray weed killer again to get rid of all the weeds before putting down grass seed. Having planted the grass seed right after tilling, the number of weeds that sprouted was insane. I didn't have a lawn, I had a huge patch of plantain, clover, Japanese clover, dollar weed, and crabgrass. Some of the grass grew, but it was mostly weeds. I've read a lot of reviews for grass seed that complain about nothing but weeds growing, but their description indicates that they did the same thing I did and planted right after tilling. Anyway... I found this product and followed directions to hopefully kill off the weeds. I knew that I was going to have a lot of bare spots (since I had so many weeds that had crowded out the grass), but I planned to over-seed this fall, anyway. The plantain, dollar weed, and clover started to die within 2 days and were completely gone within a week. The Japanese clover, however, took a while longer to start to die. I was starting to think that I was going to have to re-apply this or a different brand to kill it, but after almost 2 weeks it finally started to wither and has now died off. I do have a lot of areas that need to be re-seeded, but at least the weeds are under control and mostly gone. The crabgrass will have to be treated a different way since this product does not kill actively growing crabgrass, and I'm overseeding this fall so I can't use a pre-emergent next spring, either. The combination of fertilizer and weed killer is great, though, since crabgrass is opportunistic and grows when turf grass is not well-fed or maintained. Hopefully, ensuring the health of the lawn will help prevent crabgrass from taking hold next spring. I'm happy with the results, even though it took longer than I expected for some of the weeds. The biggest difficulty I had was keeping the dog off the treated area for a few days (the info on the bag says no pets/humans for 24 hours, but I erred on the side of caution and waited until it rained before letting her back on the treated area).

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Pet friendly?**
A: Read the label - at LEAST in the short term, no it is NOT pet friendly (i.e. NOT pet safe). Supposedly when it's dry, they say it's safe to let animals and children on the grass. But there are all sorts of restrictions on how long before you can seed, lay sod, etc., which says the active ingredients are still there. I would not put my pets (or children on the grass for an extended period of time with this or most any other weed-killing product. A friend in the pest control business (former president of his state's pest control association) would concur.

**Q: Will this kill crab grass also?**
A: It did not kill my crabgrass... I also applied too much and it browned my lawn. I have bermuda grass and it killed it, but crabgrass continues to spread.

**Q: Does this product actually get rid of dandilions? I need a product that I can spread across the entire lawn and not kill the grass.**
A: It works great on dandelions; I am seeing a big improvement in my yard. However, I use a gardening service, so my lawn is susceptible to whatever the mower brings from other yards. I also have wrought iron fencing so dandelion seeds will blow in. This is an ongoing process, and you should follow Scotts recommendations for optimum results.

**Q: Do you have to mow lawn first?**
A: Tall grass can be mowed a day or two ahead, do not cut the grass while spreading the weed and feed and don't cut the grass and later that day apply the weed and feed. Either cut the grass a couple of days ahead or wait a couple of days after applying before cutting the grass. Apply when the grass is either wet or after applying add some water to help it stick to the weeds, do not wash it off by overwatering.
