They eat the bait and take it back to the nest infecting the mice there. It's stores great and doesn't go off. There won't be any left overs if there is leave it in a place a fresh block in. It will get eaten. Get about 5 boxes and place them in different aces and I even put loose bait under there floor boards where a box wouldn't fit. Took about a month nut fingers crossed they are gone, big tip. Put a box where they are getting in. Then block it up **Q: How effective is this and how long does it take to work? I need some sleep** A: The mice started to take the bait immediately, I am still putting out bait and it is still being taken three weeks later.
