I have never been a massive fan of Rod Stewart. A few songs here and there I thought were OK but nothing to make me rush out and buy anything by him... Until I discovered this album through a friend who had it. The first track that grabbed me was the cover of Primal Scream's 'Rocks Off' it just works. The album is a great mix of covers and original material. There's the great ballad 'Shelley My Love' and the brilliant best track on the album - the title track. I am sure if the record company had've put it out as a single it would have boosted sales and it would have been a big hit. Instead the album went out of the chart as fast as it went in. Which I still think is a missed opportunity. When you compare this to some of his more recent albums like the heavily promoted and more cringe-worthy 'Great American Songbook' series, there is no comparison. It's down to preference and taste I suppose. The only track that doesn't really work for me is the cover of Oasis' `Cigarettes and Alcohol' - it's a bit like someone of a certain age trying to get down with the kids. But that aside it's definitely worth checking out.

I really enjoy the music of Rod Stewart. I was only recently introduced to 'My Secret Heart'. This album has a very beautiful version of the song. Mary. Ireland
