It sure is a major difference putting a new blade in that saw that's been going along with me for a decade or better. I miss the rakers that were on the original blade, but this is certainly very serviceable, it works well in green or dry wood, and appears to be well made for long-term use. I'm happy. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Way to Install use a Ring Pin device *by T***F on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on October 17, 2013* These replacement blades are great just like the original blade they work great I would buy some extras the best way to install is to use a Linch Pin rather than fooling with the Spring pin per the instructions on the replacement blade saw. If you go to google images and type in Ring Pin you will see what I am talking about. They are also called a Linch pin. The blade comes with a new threaded bolt attached to the new blade using a spring pin just like it is in the original saw. Regarding the original saw a spring pin holds the other end of the blade in the saw. You must remove this spring pin and take out the old blade then slide in a new blade and you are suppose to replace the old spring pin to install the new blade. Re installing the spring pin is difficult to do. The best thing to do is to use a Linch pin. Get one (get the right size) that drops through the hole where you removed the old spring pin. The Spring pin is the tiny piece of metal with a slit in it that held one end of the original saw blade onto the silver part of the saw. The thing in the hole that you are suppose to punch out with a nail or something in order to replace the blade. Use a Linch pin instead of replacing the Spring pin. A Linch Pin drops easily through the holes in the silver part of the saw make sure the new saw blade of course is lined up meaning the holes are lined up so that the Linch pin goes through the holes in the silver part of the saw and the holes in the new saw blade. Then simply flip the round ring part over of the Linch pin and it instantly locks the Linch pin and any play is dealt with when you tighten down the bolt with the Wing Nut - The saw works just fine too. I used it after installing a new blade this way and it worked fine. Using this method you can easily replace blades quickly which you should not be having to do but anyway I got mine stuck in a tree and got it out with a hatchet by among other things accidentally smashing the blade a few times with the hatchet so I needed a new one. Thank God that he showed me about the Linch Pin made it simple I had first fought with the Spring Pin for a few minutes. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 20 years and the new blades still fit. *by F***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on October 21, 2021* I have an old Sven saw that is a little more than 20 years old that I received as a kid. Eventually any type of blade will dull. Ordered this thinking my original blade was getting close. Tried the fit while replacing the roll pin with a nut and bolt like the newer svens, same size and fit on all fronts.
