The book has you intrigued right from the first sentence and even though this book is above 400 pages, it does not slacken in its pacing. I never felt bored even when I was being fed information and I just ate it all. I loved the character development and I am so glad that Celaena, our protagonist, is strong and driven and that’s something I love about Sarah J Mass's writing. I really enjoyed that the story was around a formidable assassin, and she has already lived through her years of fame and downfall after being captured. This is a story of what happens after, when opportunity presents itself and how she grabs onto it and what that opportunity leads her to. I know, I know, I’m late to the party. I don’t know how I hadn’t read this book, but hey, better late than never, right? I am sooo looking forward to diving into the next one! Review: A chilling and thrilling read - Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas is the first book in the series by the same name. Celaena Sardothien, the protagonist is Adarlan's most notorious assassin who was enslaved in Endovier. She is bought to the king's court to compete to become the King's Champion and win back her freedom, failing which she would be killed. The things become dangerous as the competition proceeds and several dark secrets are revealed in the course of the book. 🗡 When it comes to characterisation, I feel that the author has done a tremendous job. She has shaped and developed the characters masterfully and has weaved the story with a lot of skill. I really liked Nehemia and Dorian, apart from the obvious favourite Celaena. Lies, murders and manipulation dominate the narrative. The narrative was a bit slow paced during the first half of the book but it became interesting and thrilling later. I was in for a lot of surprises and I couldn't put the book down.
