Review: No more storage problems! - I'm giving 5 stars on all that apply to me because I see no issue with this HDD. I had purchased the 2TB one as a Christmas present for my Love since he plays various games with me and my bros. But I have one friend that wants to play nearly every game he finds interesting even with 1TB internal Harddrive I had to download and delete and reinstall my games. So I decided to purchase 4TB for myself, lets be honest it's not exactly 4TB we get to use but it is still more than 3TB. I can reinstall all of my games including some games I've had my sights on trying. Of course I had to format the drive but the playstation gives clear instructions to guide you and even formats it for you after you've followed said instructions. Now as for rest mode, we keep our drives connected besides the PS4 and when it turns on the Drive is still active continuously storing all those games. It's a worthy buy if you're a multi genre Gamer like myself. Review: Good device - I bought this for my PS4 (dec '21), and have kept all of my games on it. I only had one issue setting it up and that was the fact I did NOT plug it in FAST enough. I couldn't figure out why it was not being read by my PS4 and looked online, turns out that was the issue. I have since got a PS5 and it's plug and play. All of my PS4 games were on there, I was able to access them and play them immediately. Although the game save data was saved directly to the PS4, so I did have to transfer that to the external HD (or upload to cloud and access from there) to be able to resume any games from my save points. All in all, worth the buy, love having the extra space for plenty of games! ## Features - Don't delete games from PS4 consoles just to make room for new ones store 100 plus games with 4TB of portable hard drive storage - Experience no lag gaming and full throttle performance with an external hard drive - Dive into the action with quick step by step setup and plug and play USB 3. 0 connectivity: no power cable needed - This game drive features the classic black and blue design of PS4, it’s the perfect accessory for any gaming setup and its compact, travel ready form factor means the adventure can go anywhere - Enjoy long term peace of mind with the included 1 year limited - The available storage capacity may vary. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B076826S5R | | Additional Features | Portable | | Best Sellers Rank | #251 in External Hard Drives | | Brand | Seagate | | Built-In Media | Game Drive for PS4™ 4TB USB3.0 | | Cache Memory Installed Size | 4 | | Color | blue | | Compatible Devices | Gaming Console | | Compatible Video Game Console Models | Sony PlayStation 4 | | Connectivity Technology | USB | | Customer Package Type | Standard Packaging | | Customer Reviews | 4.8 out of 5 stars 12,163 Reviews | | Data Transfer Rate | 625 gigabits_per_second | | Digital Storage Capacity | 4 TB | | Enclosure Material | Aluminum/Glass | | Form Factor | Portable | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00763649119389, 03660619402052 | | Hard Disk Description | Mechanical Hard Disk | | Hard Disk Form Factor | 2.5 inches | | Hard Disk Interface | USB 3.0 | | Hard-Drive Size | 4 TB | | Hardware Connectivity | USB, USB 3.0 | | Hardware Platform | playstation 4 | | Installation Type | Plug In | | Item Dimensions L x W x Thickness | 4.46"L x 2.99"W x 0.81"Th | | Item Type Name | Seagate (STGD4000400) Game Drive 4TB External Hard Drive Portable HDD – Compatible with PS4 | | Item Weight | 8.47 ounces | | Manufacturer | SEAGATE | | Media Speed | 140 megabytes_per_second | | Mfr Part Number | STGD4000400 | | Model Name | Game Drive | | Model Number | STGD4000400 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Read Speed | 140 megabytes_per_second | | Special Feature | Portable | | Specific Uses For Product | Gaming | | UPC | 763649119389 843715117195 | | Warranty Description | 1 | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Seagate - **Color:** blue - **Compatible Devices:** Gaming Console - **Connectivity Technology:** USB - **Digital Storage Capacity:** 4 TB - **Hard Disk Description:** Mechanical Hard Disk - **Hard Disk Form Factor:** 2.5 inches - **Hard Disk Interface:** USB 3.0 - **Installation Type:** Plug In - **Special Feature:** Portable ## Images ![Seagate Game Drive 4TB External Hard Drive Portable HDD - Compatible With PS4 (STGD4000400) blue - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/6181IuGHuTL.jpg) ![Seagate Game Drive 4TB External Hard Drive Portable HDD - Compatible With PS4 (STGD4000400) blue - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71kMogFmRdL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Does it come with the usb cord that will connect the ps4 to the hard drive?** A: Yes - I have purchased 2 of these for myself and my son and both came with the cords to connect drive to the PS4. Great drives. The drive can also be removed from the enclosure and can be used as a SATA III internal HDD as well incase anyone was wondering. **Q: Why are people commenting on face masks when the item is about bug zappers???** A: Let’s see, I never ordered this bug zapper. I just ordered some new face masks though. I’m assuming there is a glitch on the website. Glitch in the Matrix! lol **Q: Is this compatible with ps5?** A: These answers fail to mention a vital point: PS5 games cannot be played from the external drive. They can be saved, but need to be downloaded to the PS5 Console to allow you to play. PS4 games absolutely can be saved and played from the external drive & with a patch from 2022 you can format for PS5 Consoles to store games from either generation (PS4 & 5). Again, PS5 games are saved here simply to allow quicker download onto your console if let's say, like me, your internet is very slow...you avoid 7 hours to download a 35gb game, but you cannot play PS5 games from any external drive. Install an internal drive if that's what you want. **Q: what are these? would it make my older outdated laptop w/o an ssd able to play games that require an ssd?** A: To answer your question, no, this is not a solution to your issue, and I'll tell you why. The limiting factor here is the connection. While yes, it is super-fast (compared to older USB standards) it is nowhere near fast enough to compete with the BUS on your motherboard. So that external connection is not going to be able to compete with an SSD that's internally mounted on your motherboard. So, I wouldn't recommend playing games on either storage device in this external dock. If you want SSD performance then I would recommend installing it internally on your laptop, it's not that difficult. As an aside, while the previous response was extremely rude & unhelpful, he is correct that there is not and SSD requirement on any game I've seen. Games perform better on Solid State storage devices, absolutely, but the only requirement I've ever seen is the amount of space they require for installation. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ No more storage problems! *by S***N on May 28, 2020* I'm giving 5 stars on all that apply to me because I see no issue with this HDD. Has worked great. Was easy to install. Opened box plugged into the USB port of the PS4 with the provided cable. Went under settings to storage and clicked to format to the PS4 then under settings and clicked on use external storage so now our games automatically download to the external memory instead of using the PS4 memory storage. We always had to delete digital games then redownload when wanting to play the games that take up so much memory (fortnite takes up ALOT of memory with their constant updates). We have a lot of power surges where we live and this always fixes itself when the power clicks off. Hasn’t caused any issues with this memory device with all our power surges. Has worked great. Buying a second now for my sons PS4. Would recommend. ## Frequently Bought Together - Seagate Game Drive 4TB External Hard Drive Portable HDD - Compatible With PS4 (STGD4000400) blue - Seagate Game Drive for Xbox 4TB External Hard Drive Portable HDD - USB 3.2 Gen 1, Black with built-in green LED bar , Xbox Certified, 3 year Rescue Services (STKX4000402) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/52014738-seagate-game-drive-4tb-external-hard-drive-portable-hdd-compatible](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/52014738-seagate-game-drive-4tb-external-hard-drive-portable-hdd-compatible) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-14*
