The Pentair Pentek DGD-7525 Big Blue Water Filter is a 10-inch whole house sediment cartridge featuring a dual-gradient density spun polypropylene design. ## Description

DGD Series Cartridges are manufactured from 100% pure polypropylene and are sized for use in Pentair Pentek Big Blue Filter Housings. DGD Series Cartridges are designed for purity and will not impart taste, odor or color to the liquid being filtered. Additionally, the polypropylene construction provides superior chemical resistance. The DGD Series' advanced design combines selective final filtration with appropriate pre-filtration to achieve up to three times the dirt holding capacity of similar size sediment cartridges and even greater capacity than standard spun or string-wound cartridges. The larger diameter of the filter reduces the particle load, allowing it to operate at higher velocities. The effective filter depth is increased to a full 233%. This increased depth provides very high particulate reduction efficiencies and added loading capacity. The design and performance characteristics of the DGD Series Cartridges make them an excellent choice for all residential, rural, municipal and commercial applications.

**Q: What is the projected longevity in months?**
A: Thank you for your inquiry! The average projected longevity is about 3-months.

**Q: silly question but is spun the same as woven? I know I need to get woven and not paper filter.... the spun polypropelene is throwing me**
A: spun is smooth outside, woven is like a continues string, pleat is paper with wire over sometimes, but not always. the 5005is good all around for most use, carbon or black is for strong smell, woven for sediment sand or fine silt. hope it helps somegene

**Q: I notice this filter does not have seals on the two ends to prevent unfiltered water bypassing. Do you have to add seals when installing?**
A: The filter element fits into the filter body and there is a circular raised area about 3/4" high in the bottom. After you clean any sediment out of the bottom of the filter, place one end of the filter element over this. Very important, lubricate the "O" with Vaseline, seat it in the groove at the top of the filter body, screw together with the wrench (sold by Amazon), turn on the water and check for leaks.

A: These are manufactured by Pentair who has multiple manufacturing facilities both in the USA and in other countries throughout the world.  These filters at this date (January 2020) are manufactured in house in our Pentair facility in China.

I rarely leave reviews, but this one indicates a great product. I’ve tried various filters, from cheap to expensive, and this one surpasses expectations. My well water is high in iron (reddish clay), but this filter works wonders. Highly recommended, though the price is on the expensive side.
