The machine was making a very loud, and longer than it is supposed to be, sound when the machine was turned on. For the price point I wanted a perfectly new machine so I returned it and bought another model from a local sewing machine store. But this model Janome should be a very nice basic sewing machine. It has several nice features. A speed control slider, a needle threader, a start stop button so you don't have to use the floor pedal. The Q is important, as that would be the machine that would have the Quilting attachments, which I was hoping to get.
