I had cleaned the wood, repaired missing bits, glued down veneer that was lifting and all the usual things needed on an unloved clock case 200 years old. I found some beeswax polish that was at least 30 years old and used up what was left on the worst areas but needed more. This polish is superb at the job. I followed the instructions and the result is stunning - a fabulous shine which has transormed the clock case from a lump of wood into a thing of beauty. I am waiting a couple of months and will give another coat of polish before passing the clock on to a family member. Fortunately two sessions of intensive polishing with this good old Antiquax brought the depth of grain and the gloss back, while the varnish underneath will protect them from future water damage.
