What a mess. These beauties lock and will not come apart unless you want them to. Plus the way the cord is constructed, it is easy to put in a life line in case you make a mistake. You have your choice of rounded or pointed tips depending on what you are making, and the quality is unsurpassed. A little more expensive, but worth every penny. I tried the plastic needles and the wood ones. They just weren't cutting it for me. Once I got the hang of knitting i decided in the long run it was less expensive to just buy the whole set of these better needles, than buying cheap ones, only to continually try to upgrade. I was glad I did. They are so nice to work with. The needles are so smooth, and easy to knit with. I like the "click" system better than the ones you screw the cords on to ( they continually come undone as you go). The click is easy to do, but make sure you get the "clicked". The packaging is so streamline and easy to store, or take if I need to pack them. I did purchase a 16" cord when I ordered these, as I don't believe it comes with the shorter cord so often used for making hats. If you like the metal needles over the bamboo ones, just bite the bullet and get these.
