Why do you want to shorten it anyway? Position the fitting to give you the opening width you want. **Q: Images have the lengths of the two screw in parts (40 & 65mm) what are the widths? TIA!** A: Hi - Sorry I have moved from the house I fitted this in - I can tell you it worked well though. **Q: Can these be used on Velux roof windows?** A: Icant see why not, just be careful where you fix the sash part, with screws, as you might crack the glass **Q: Could this be used to allow a french door to only open a few inches ?** A: it may be possible but it will not hold the door open . It would stop the door opening more than a few inches but any draughts or wind would cause the door to move . ## Frequently Bought Together - XFORT Viper Key Locking Cable Window Restrictor in White, Durable Window Safety Lock for Child Safety and Window Security - BeeGo® Window restrictor - 1 Pc Self Adhesive Baby proofing Window Lock for upvc Window, Wooden, Metal, Aluminum Frames, No Tools or Drilling Window Safety Locks, Easy to Install, White - BABYGO® Magnetic Child Safety Cupboard Locks for Children 10 Locks, 2 Keys & 8 Free Corner Protectors Baby Proofing Kitchen Cabinets & Drawers Easy 30 Second Install (White, Child Safety Locks) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/52752355-xfort-viper-key-locking-cable-window-restrictor-in-white-durable](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/52752355-xfort-viper-key-locking-cable-window-restrictor-in-white-durable) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-24*
