John Byrne's X-Men Artist's Edition

If you're a fan of John Byrne & Terry Austin's work on The Uncanny X-Men, this is a must-have. Absolutely breathtaking! It feels like you're looking at the originals. The scans are so good and so accurate and the quality of the paper and materials make it feel like you're in a museum and should be using white gloves. The only thing that's missing is the "Now it's my turn" page from the end of #132, but other than that one omission, the collection is incredible. Might seem a little expensive, but it is worth it!

If you've purchased any of these volumes, you already know their outstanding quality. They are literally the next best thing to the original artwork. I've especially been looking forward to the Byrne/Austin X-Men book and, man, it did not disappoint. Lovely, lovely, lovely. I owned one of these pages back in the 80's (wish I still had it) and it was like holding the art in my hands once again. Can't recommend this book enough, so get your copy before the print run is exhausted.BTW, I am ever in awe of Mr. Austin's inking abilities. Nobody made Byrne's artwork look better and I was hard put to find any corrections to the pages. Truly a master.

In college I collected the entire, first run of the Byrne / Austin XMEN. They were proving they were the next generation of "Marvel" artists. In the process, they ushered-in the new generation. Byrne, Austin, Golden, Miller and the rest of the 80's Marvel artist. This is when quality was a reason to purchase comics. If you purchase this, enjoy.

Seeing the black and white version of John Byrne and Terry Austin’s run on X-Men is amazing. It has become my favorite Artist’s Edition book so far. In my opinion Byrne and Austin were the perfect combination of penciler/inker to ever produce comic art.

So far, greatly enjoying this art book! It's wonderful to analyze these reproductions of original artwork from stories I first read over 30 years ago, which made me a lifelong comic book & John Byrne fan. Hope to see more John Byrne books like this from IDW.

This art book is one to keep to study, learn, and enjoy. John byrne is one of the great masters of comic art. I can see details that I would have not seen in a small printed size comic.

I only just received this artists edition and had to write the review. This is my third IDW artist’s edition, and I am already excited while only flipping through the book. The team of Chris Claremont, John Byrne, and Terry Austin was the gold standard of comics excellence during the late 1970s through to the 1980s. As an amateur comic artist inspired by the artists of the day, I love seeing the original size pencil and ink artwork. Even the paste-up corrections are fun to explore. I’ll really be enjoying this read.

Mieux que bien RAS

This book comes in a padded corners box by idw, which is good because one corner of the box was badly dented. The book itself is Perfect, drawn by my favourite comic book artist John Byrne.
