Review: This Ladder Assist helps you sit up in bed - I considered a bed rail on one side of my bed to get out then nixxed the idea-because I wanted to continue to train my body/muscles to sit up. Which was something I was re-learning after hip surgery. It was a matter of use it or lose it. I wanted to relearn sitting up straight from a laying down position vs rolling on my side and grabbing a bar. I wanted to continue maintaining my arm & abdominal strength. This ladder- 1.Allows me to strengthen and use abdominal and other muscles to PULL myself up into a sitting position. ( Without leaning & depending on a fixed metal bedrail). 2. The bottom strap anchors around bottom of bed frame, positioning you in the middle of the bed. Thus, you’ve got something to grab onto to help you roll over- which keeps you from only sleeping on one side of the bed / only sleeping on one side of your body. 3. The ladder consists of nylon straps and the handles are sturdy plastic covered by a cushion like rubber- so the palms of your hands are well protected and provide a good grip. 4. Because of the nylon strap design you don’t notice it in bed. 5. The ladder design allows you to grab each “ step” until you are upright. It’s like a mini- physical therapy session- building strength as you go.

**Q: How about a video showing the product being used instead of a video with someone describing it?  Wouldn't that be more helpful to a potential buyer?**
A: I agree.  I bought one for my sister, but she didn't find it useful--maybe a video would have given her some tips on how to use it.  Long story short, I returned it.

**Q: my wife has only use of her left side. would this be helpful to get out of bed?**
A: I use my left side to pull myself up. What I'm not sure of is, once she gets up, moving to the side of the bed and standing up? Also, I'm 5'4" and weigh 170 lbs. and it works great for me. I hope this helps.

this is a very nice tool to have. I put it on the centerline of a tempurpedic adjustable bed using the metal rail that retains the foot of the mattress, and it has been very good to have from the jump - for repositioning myself, for sitting up, for getting out of bed. (I'm a cancer patient with a lot of weight loss following abdominal surgery; my core strength is very low.) I can see it will also be a great rescue tool - last week I drifted to the edge of the bed while asleep, halted my fall by putting my head on the bedside table - and needed another 20 minutes to figure out a way to lever myself upright and get out of bed. that experience prompted my purchase of rails and this ladder. i will get the rails up when possible; this was a one-person job with immediate, large benefit. all that said, I do look at this tool and wonder how long it will last. the assembly of the middle rung on my copy introduces 2 unneeded points of failure - the main ring of fabric is cut on each side and the rung is attached at the cut, as is the loop which holds the top rung in place. If the çenter rung was joined the same way that bottom rung is, by leaving the webbing intact and joining to it as it went past, there would be no need for those two cuts - and probably fewer reviews reporting early failure of the ladder. Time will tell, and I will look into other fabric ladders. It seems possible that someone makes a bunk bed or treehouse ladder which offers similar functionality if attached to a bed.
